Fellowship of Isis
Guidelines
Since the decentralization of the FOI Foundation Center in 1999, there have been many new policies instituted by the FOI co-founder, Olivia Robertson. Please also see the appropriate section of the FOI Homepage for more detailed information. FOI members and centers are asked to follow these guidelines in order to provide uniformity within the Fellowship.
For FOI policy guidelines in booklet form, order the FOI Manual.

FOI Priesthood
For those who wish ordination within the Fellowship of Isis, a training course is first required. Application is made to a member of the FOI Priesthood within an active center. The recommended training period is 9 months to 2 years. Spiritual Vocation on the part of the Candidate is essential.
Either a Lyceum or Iseum may provide Priesthood training: either in person or through correspondence. It is done by an Iseum when the Magi Degree system is not a part of the training program. In order to preserve validity of Fellowship courses and to maintain equal standards, ordaining others on "previous life experience" is not acceptable. (This refers to previous studies and/or degrees obtained within other traditions in this current incarnation, as well as any former "past life" experiences.)
At the end of the training period, the Rite of Ordination is performed, either in person or through attunement, by a Fellowship Priestess or Priest. This completes the first phase and confers direct Spiritual Ordination.
After the Ordination Rite, the Fellowship requires a formal year and a day to pass before registration of the new Priest/ess is allowed. This procedure will validate their ministry in practical life through conscious participation in their Vocation.
After the required year and a day, if s/he wishes formal registration in the Fellowship, the new Priest/ess will contact the person who ordained them. The ordaining Priest/ess will then issue a Fellowship of Isis Ordination Certificate, and provide the required information to an AU member. (name, address, date ordained, Deities, etc.)
Only ordained FOI Priest/esses may pass the ordination on to others, however it is not necessary to be a Hierophant or Adept. The Ordination Rite is always used in order for the ordination to be valid within the Fellowship of Isis.
Priesthood through the Fellowship of Isis is of a spiritual nature only and does not convey legal ministerial status.
Priesthood numbers/certificates are no longer provided by the Foundation Center. Existing centers are asked to issue their own certificates for new Priest/esses.
Important note: Only after formal registration is the ordination valid within the Fellowship of Isis. Registration is required before a Priest or Priestess can train and ordain other candidates into the Fellowship of Isis Priesthood. (10/01)

Iseums
Any member may found an Iseum. You do not have to be a Priest/ess or Hierophant. An Iseum may be requested at any time, but it is recommended that the member first study the Fellowship of Isis structure and liturgy (either on their own or with a FOI center), and be a member for a reasonable period of time. To found an Iseum, a request is made to an existing center for sponsorship.
Iseum numbers/certificates are no longer provided by the Foundation Center. Existing centers are asked to issue their own certificates for new Iseums. As you sponsor them, please submit the required information to an AU member to be registered within the FOI.
A member may join as many Iseums as they wish. There are no vows nor secrecy.
Iseums may provide instruction in the FOI Initiate Level system, however they are not required to do so. Iseums are eclectic centers that provide a wide variety of offerings. See Iseums and Initiate Levels for more information.

Lyceums
Only a Hierophant may found a Lyceum. You must first be ordained as a FOI Priest/ess and also attain 4 Magi Degrees through study with a Lyceum before becoming a Hierophant. Only a Hierophant may consecrate another as Hierophant using the Flamma Sacerdotae: Consecration of a Hierophant.
According to the directive of Olivia Robertson: the sole purpose of a Lyceum is to provide training in the FOI Magi Degree system. These centers are required to provide structured Magi degree courses centered around the Lyceum Liturgy in order to be considered valid. All other offerings and teachings are to be provided by an Iseum.
Before establishing a new Lyceum, it is recommended that the member first firmly establish their own Iseum within the Fellowship of Isis.
Lyceum and Hierophant numbers/certificates are no longer provided by the Foundation Center. Existing centers are asked to issue their own certificates for new Lyceums and Hierophants. As you sponsor them, please submit the required information to an AU member to be registered within the FOI.
It is recommended that a member only join one Lyceum at a time to avoid conflict in teaching methods and to only study one Magi Degree at a time. See Lyceums and Magi Degrees for more information.

FOI New Member Certificates & Numbers
Individual membership numbers are no longer required or issued by the Foundation Center. Individual centers are to issue their own membership certificates and then send the total number of members to an AU member to be registered within the FOI on a quarterly basis. Members' names and addresses are kept at the individual centers and not sent to the Register. (8/99)
