Dear Friends,

What a summer it has been so far…

And now it’s Lammas…the time of the first harvest.

Around here, the fields have already been stripped of grain. The dusky bleached ochre of the landscape now strewn with neat blocks or roundels of straw…the task often completed at night to maximise the grain’s moisture content; the fields then left to dry, crack and crisp in the seemingly relentless sunshine.

We are lucky.

Other lands have a harvest of wild fire and huge destruction. Smoke, flames and terror stalk the holiday lands of France and Spain.

What might be our own personal harvest?

Mine seems to be working through a never ending ‘to do’ list…and August, freer than other months from the usual routines, I hope will see a noticeable in-road into this seeming gargantuan load…

So my main harvest is one of ‘completion satisfaction’…that relief when the list shortens and I can look around and see some space cleared of clutter, the art materials sorted, the drawing resolved…and I am intending to create space, in my head at least, for an art and faith sketch journal…a harvest for the Equinox.

Divine Mother; guide our hands in the weeks ahead to work, so we may be the gift to the world we were created to be…

May we water our lands with kindness, good will and courage.

Courage to speak out when needed and wisdom to know when silence brings peace.

May we all feel the blessings of these extraordinary times.
