Samhain Letter from Cressida Pryor
October 31, 2026

Samhain Blessings.
This letter is coming later than I would like due to my world being turned upside down…My husband Bob collapsed on October 1st with internal bleeding, which brought him for life saving treatment to what is now called Critical Care and was known, in the UK at least, as Intensive Care. Here he received the help he needed through the wonderful skills and humanity of the NHS. They found, unfortunately, an inoperable tumour and after some radio therapy he is now home on palliative care. Thank the Goddess, he is, for now, relatively pain free and still able to get about, with support.
And as I lay awake this morning going through my long ‘to do’ list I suddenly realised I hadn’t written this letter…I thought I’d cheat and ask AI what I could write…when asked it was actually quite good…but then I thought I’d share with you the reality of my life.
It’s just how it is and many of you will have been through it too…
This does emphasise our inherent fragility and perhaps at this time of year highlights how close we all are to our mortality.
One of our neighbours has placed a plastic skeleton climbing out of their garden waste wheelie bin…and we have countless large spiders and bats in windows and front doors…
The AI letter says something I will share:
‘the dark is the holy womb from which all life originates…’
Dear Friends, I will finish now with these words:
Divine Mother, we offer up our hopes and fears, our beauty and brokenness, and call on you for insight, healing and renewal.
As we look forward to the times ahead, help us to live well each day and be our best selves; using our unique gifts in the service of love, justice and peace. Blessed be.
Your steward,
Cressida
