In memory of Patricia Griffin
Notice of passing of Pat Griffin from The Irish Times:
GRIFFIN, (née Cahill) Patricia Joan (Killiney, Co. Dublin and formerly of Blackrock) December 12, 2019. Peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the care of the Blackrock Hospice, after a long illness, bravely borne.
Wife of the late Dr. Michael B. Griffin, High Priestess of Aine and partner of the late Ben Brady (Hereditary Druid), new-found Sister of Christel in Canada and adored mother of Sean, Patricia, Siobhan and Aisling and the late Bridget, Fergus and Brian. Much loved grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her sons-in-law and the respective partners, relatives and friends.
Reposing on Monday, December 16 from 5pm to 7pm in Carnegies Funeral Home, The Crescent, Monkstown, A94 XK28. A Humanist Ceremony to celebrate Patricia’s life will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm in the Victorian Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium. Family flowers only please.
Pat was a long-term member of the Fellowship of Isis and the Castle's Assistant Temple Priestess for many years before retiring. She founded the Lyceum of Aine and Sophia and was a charter member of the Foundation Center Archpriesthood Union, the Nemeton of Dana, and the Rainbow Circle of Brigid.
Olivia Robertson wrote this about Pat in 2003:
"Patricia Griffin is Priestess in Charge with Olivia for the Temple of Isis at Clonegal Castle and will continue in the task when Olivia leaves this earthly realm! With her committed group, including Bizzie, Padraic, Karen and many others in Dublin, she is preparing an evening gathering on Samhain Eve on the Hill of Tara. Her group are enthusiastic about experiencing the spiritual and earthly radiations of various ancient Irish sites, particularly working with their Grove in the Druid Clan of Dana. Celebrations of the Isis Wedding Rite are particularly popular, often receiving wide press coverage, not only in Ireland, but, combining with Foundation Centre in Clonegal, in the English Sunday Telegraph, a pillar of Establishment readership! On the 22nd August, she was Archpriestess at a beautiful outdoor Isian Wedding by a river and waterfall, at the faery site of Glendalough. in case members are interested, she has a video of the event. Music included songs by five gospel singers. Patricia holds fortnightly meetings by invitation only."
