Lammas Letter from Cressida Pryor
September 18, 2026

Dear Friends,
It’s good to connect again after such an extraordinary summer…and with the
Equinox suddenly the cooler nights seem to be rolling in with galloping speed…
In the past days I have written about this season and thought I would ask AI for some guidelines to scaffold my ideas.
After a little ‘thought’ this is what I got:
"Core Principles of Balance…
Mind and Spirit: we need both reason and emotional reflection to make sense of our daily lives.
Time and Rest: Recognizing that the modern urge to consume and rush leaves us
empty, a balanced life makes sacred room for stillness, joy, and rest.
Interdependence: We do not live alone; true balance honors our responsibilities to our families, our neighbors, and the natural earth that sustains us. If you feel off centre reaching out to a supportive community can help…”
All well and good up to a point…what it, or they (what are AI’s pronouns?) didn’t mention was the balance of AI itself in our lives, and the effect of this on our spiritual and everyday lives. There are probably many advantages that have been identified, in healthcare, data analysis and other areas. These need to be balanced out with the threats that only this morning have been described as the development of a ‘Silicon Species’ that could destroy us.
How do we achieve very necessary balance in this, now growing, AI world?
I have the hope that our knowledge that we are so interconnected as a human
race, both spiritually and also by the very strands of DNA that run through every human cell…that this deep ‘knowing’ of each other, if we can be open to it is ultimately our saving ‘grace’. Through trust and compassion we will do what is best for the common good. I truly believe and know Mother Julian’s words are at our core, that all will be well…but the vehicle of this is behaving with love and justice in our hearts.
It’s not easy, but if we remember that our Divine Mother walks besides us and if we can open our eyes and heart to experience her, divine balance will be there…
With every blessing,
Cressida, FOI Steward
